Commission of Cancer of the American College of Surgeons
Western Maryland Health System Schwab Family Cancer Center (SFCC) recently received another three-year accreditation from the Commission of Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. This means the SFCC is in compliance with all 46 national standards.
Currently there are more than 1,500 cancer-accredited programs across the country, representing 30 percent of all hospitals. Accreditation is voluntary and requires a rigorous on-site evaluation to ensure patients have access to a full scope of services required to diagnose, treat, rehabilitate, and support patients with cancer and their families. To maintain accreditation, cancer centers must be reevaluated every three years.
