Questions To Ask The Pediatrician

If you are planning to breastfeed your baby, knowing if your pediatrician is "breastfeeding friendly can be helpful. The Western Maryland Regional Lactation Workgroup developed these questions to help expectant mothers when selecting a pediatrician.

Tell me about how you work with breastfeeding families in your practice. What percentage of
your babies are being breastfed?
Do you have a trained breastfeeding specialist in your office?
Who on your staff could help me if I have breastfeeding problems?
What kind of help could they offer me?
Under what circumstances would you suggest a breastfed baby receive formula?
What do you recommend to breastfeeding mothers who need to return to work?
