Parish Nurse Program Celebrates 15th Anniversary

The Western Maryland Health System Parish Nurse Program held a "Candlelighting" ceremony on December 3 at the WMRMC chapel to celebrate its 15th year of service.  Over 50 guests attended the event, which included parish nurses, health ministers and clergy from local churches that are active in the WMHS Parish Nurse program.

Pictured (right) during the "Lighting of Congregational Candles" are parish nurses (from left) Linda Santmyire (retired), Emma Brashear (Wellness), Mo Bray (retired), Rena Litten (Performance Improvement) and Virginia Wright (retired).

Shown (below) at the chapel alter are members of the Parish Nurse leadership team (front, from left) Nancy Forlifer (Community Health & Wellness Director), Joyce Hedrick (Coordinator of the Parish Nurse Program), and Linda Santmyire (WMHS retiree and original Parish Nurse Coordinator).  Second row: Rev. Hans Killius (Pastoral Care Director), Rev. Charles Shelquist (Chaplain) and Mark Sullivan (Vice President of Human Resources and Mission Services).

Since its inception in 1997, the WMHS Parish Nurse Program has steadily grown into its current level of service, which includes 74 parish nurses and 12 health ministers, serving 55 faith communities.  Congratulations and thanks to everyone involved in the Parish Nurse Program for all you do for our community!
