Values in Action Spirit Award Recipient for April – Jim Miller

An employee with 19 years of dedicated service, Jim Miller was selected as the Western Maryland Health System’s Values in Action Spirit Award recipient for the month of April. Jim works for the Purchasing Department as a printing technician and runs the health system’s print shop.

Jim began working in the print shop at Sacred Heart in 1988. When WMHS was formed, it was one of the first operations to merge. The print shop moved to Virginia Avenue in 1996 and last year it came back to the Braddock Hospital campus, bringing Jim full circle. In the busy print shop, Jim is responsible for most of the printing and bindery functions for the health system. He prints forms, brochures, booklets, pads, flyers, handouts, and much more. You name it and Jim has probably printed it. Many departments and employees count on him to get their printing jobs done on time and he never disappoints them. Jim consistently produces a very high quality printing product in a timely fashion.

Jim is an outstanding employee with an optimistic attitude, a friendly demeanor and a great disposition. He always has a smile and a kind word for everyone and never hesitates to pitch in to help his co-workers. In fact, Jim has been known to help fellow employees with a flat tire or a dead battery. He is described by his colleagues as reliable, conscientious, resourceful, caring and humorous.

Jim and his wife, Lori, reside in Frostburg and have been married for 19 years. They are the parents of three children – Tyler, Jr., a 16-year old junior at Beall High School, and twin daughters, Kelsey and Kendra, 13, who are in the seventh grade at Mount Savage Middle School. The Miller family spends a great deal of time attending their children’s sports and activities. Tyler plays soccer and basketball for the Mounties and the twins have dancing class at the Frostburg Dance Academy and play basketball for the 7th grade team at Mount Savage, where they also excel in their school work.

Away from work, Jim is an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Frostburg. He serves the congregation as a mentor, an usher/welcomer and helps with preparations for confirmation. He is a valuable asset to the community and the health system.

Congratulations, Jim!
