WMHS Adds New Hospitalist - Dr. Ravi Aiyer

Dr. Ravi K. Aiyer, M.D.Ravi K. Aiyer, M.D., recently joined the medical staff at the Western Maryland Health System as a physician in the Hospitalist program. A hospitalist is a medical doctor who specializes in caring for inpatients from the time of their hospital admission until their discharge. The WMHS team of hospitalists admits patients who come to the Emergency Department and do not have a primary care physician (PCP). They also direct the inpatient care of local medical patients whose PCP has made prior arrangement for the hospitalist service to admit all of his/her patients.

Most recently, Dr. Aiyer was chief resident in internal medicine at the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, through the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He did his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and studied nuclear medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New York City.

A native of India, Dr. Aiyer earned medical degrees in diagnostic radiology from G.S.V.M. Medical College, and in physiology from Lady Harding Medical College in New Delhi. He also worked as an emergency physician at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and at hospitals in India. Dr. Aiyer is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Aiyer resides in Cumberland with his wife, Supriya, and their 16-month old daughter, Manushree.
