Heart Institute Celebrates 500th Open Heart Surgery

On Friday, November 1, cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Mark Nelson performed the 500th open-heart surgery procedure done at the Heart Institute at the Western Maryland Health System. Loretta Albright from Buffalo Mills, Pennsylvania, underwent bypass heart surgery several days before this photo was taken.
