Changes in Women's Imaging ServicesIn an effort to improve our Women's Imaging Services, WMHS is making several changes that will give our patients greater access to our radiologists and reduce waiting times. These changes include relocating mammography services at the Women's Resource Center to the Outpatient Diagnostic Center at Sacred Heart and moving the ultrasound procedures performed at the Women's Resource Center to the Radiology Department on the ground floor at Memorial. Needle localizations will still be available at Memorial Hospital. Centralizing all mammography services to the Outpatient Diagnostic Center will have many benefits for patients. Our radiologists will now be able to meet with every woman having a diagnostic mammogram. We know this will be greatly appreciated by our patients. Having a radiologist on-site will enable women having a diagnostic mammogram to have any necessary follow-up images taken during the same appointment. Reporting time will also be shortened since films will no longer need to be transported from the Women's Resource Center to the R2 Image Check on the Sacred Heart Campus. In a related move, we are discontinuing the lab drawing services at the Women's Resource Center. There are lab drawing services available at the Outpatient Diagnostic Center at Sacred Heart or patients are welcome to use the Outpatient Lab area on the ground floor at Memorial Hospital. These changes become effective on Monday, May 23. If you have any questions or concerns about a previously scheduled appointment, please call WMHS Centralized Scheduling at 301-723-1200. | ||||||||||
