Same Day Surgery Receives Excellence Award
The team in Same Day Surgery was the recipient of 2012 OR Excellence Award from Outpatient Surgery Magazine.
They won for the best tip for painless IV starts. To decrease pain and promote comfort, our SDS team uses bacteriostatic normal saline as local anesthetic before the IV stick. The benzyl alcohol, the preservative in bacteriostatic normal saline, serves as the local anesthetic, numbing the site without the initial burning that patients feel with lidocaine. Wonderful outcome for the patients—and nice national recognition for our staff!
