Dr. Gerald Goldstein Named Chief Medical Officer
Gerald Goldstein, M.D., has been named Chief Medical Officer for WMHS.
He has served in an interim capacity since November and has done an excellent job.
A board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Goldstein first joined WMHS in 2001 as part of Cumberland Anesthesia and Pain Management. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and did his internship at the Washington Hospital Center. He did his residency in anesthesiology the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he also completed a fellowship in cardiac anesthesiology and Trauma ICU.
Prior to coming to Cumberland, Dr. Goldstein was an assistant clinical professor and attending anesthesiologist at the University of Maryland’s Institute of Emergency Medicine and on staff at Laurel Regional Hospital.
During his 12-year tenure at WMHS, Dr. Goldstein has been actively involved in medical staff issues and has a strong working relationship with his colleagues and staff. He was recognized as the WMHS Physician of the Year in 2011. Congratulations to Dr. Goldstein!
