Interventional Cardiology Begins

On February 5, the first angioplasty procedures were performed in the new Cath Lab on the Sacred Heart Campus.  The opening of interventional cardiology services at the Heart Institute at WMHS marked another important step in the development of the Cardiac Services Specialty Center.  The local cardiologists who will be doing the angioplasty are Dr. Samir, Elian, Dr. Pradeep Kulkarni, Dr. Baljeet Mahal and Dr. Anil Singh.  The staff of the Cath Lab received training in preparation for this new procedure at the Washington Hospital Center. Pictured(Below, left) during the "Dry-run" conducted a few days before the first procedure are, from left, nurse Michelle Graham, Dr. Singh, cardiovascular technician Ken Hamilton and nurse Dawn Snyder.  Pictured(Below, right) during the first day of Angioplasty procedures performed in the new Cardiac Cath Lab on the Sacred Heart Campus are (from left) Dr. Kenneth Kent, interventional cardiology medical director; Dr. Anil Singh, cardiologist; Dawn Snyder, nurse; cardiologist Dr. Pradeep Kulkarni assists Dr. Baljeet Mahal on his first Angioplasty done at WMHS.
